  • Brigade members encounter many different kinds of rescues. The basic principles of rescue apply to types.
  • Vehicle and machinery rescues occur in many settings. These situations require responders to the machinery and ensure that the electricity is off.
  • It is important to recognize a space. Rescuers must ensure there is safe air supply before entering such spaces.
  • Rope rescue skills are the most and widely used technical rescue skills.
  • Trench and excavation rescues are hazardous and require responders to the chance for secondary collapses.
  • A damaged building is prone to structural collapse. Any time a building has been damaged, it may collapse.
  • Hazardous materials training at the awareness level is suggested for all levels of industrial fire brigade members in order to meet the competencies outlined in NFPA 472 Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, . This includes recognizing hazardous materials, responders, calling for appropriate assistance, and evacuating and securing the affected area. Training at the operations level and above is encouraged for levels of industrial fire brigade members.
